Vil du vite mer om EU-kontroll i Bergen? Når bilen din skal på EU-kontroll, er det en del ting det kan være smart å huske på. Med litt kunnskap og planlegging kan du spare deg for både unødvendige utgifter og ergrelser. Har du fått innkalling til EU-kontroll, er det ikke mye å lure på: Bilen din må sjekkes og den må sjekkes innen fristen som du får oppgitt. EU-kontrollen er altså ikke valgfri, men noe som er pålagt alle bileiere.
Hovedregelen er at alle personbiler som veier under 3,5 tonn skal på EU-kontroll. Det vil i praksis si de aller fleste personbiler i landet.
Unntaket er hvis du har en nyere bil. Det er lite hensiktsmessig å bruke ressurser på å kontrollere biler som har vært kort tid på veien, og som man må anta at holder en rimelig god stand. Det er derfor først når bilen din er inne i sitt fjerde år, regnet fra da den ble førstegangsregistrert, at den skal på EU-kontroll for første gang. Tidspunktet for førstegangsregistrering er oppgitt i bilens vognkort.
Har du en veteranbil eller en bil som har en totalvekt over 3,5 tonn, er det andre regler som gjelder. Taxier og ambulanser skal heller ikke på regulær EU-kontroll. Disse kjøretøyene skal på sin første EU-kontroll senest 12 måneder etter at de ble registrert første gang, for deretter å kontrolleres årlig.
Vær ellers oppmerksom på at for noen biler er den oppgitte totalvekten i vognkortet upresis. Hvis du kjører en eldre og større SUV, kan det være verdt å sjekke dette. Statens vegvesen har vekter der du kan finne ut hva bilen veier.
Det er viktig å være klar over at det er du som bileier som har ansvaret for at bilen din kommer på EU-kontroll og at det skjer før fristens utløp.
Skulle du droppe EU-kontrollen eller tenke at du får ta det senere når det passer bedre, tar du en stor risiko. For det første har du ikke lov til å bruke bilen, og blir du oppdaget så vil bilen bli avskiltet. Skulle du i verste fall komme ut for en ulykke med en bil som ikke er EU-godkjent, kan det også få store konsekvenser for forsikringsoppgjøret.
Som navnet tilsier er EU-kontrollen innført gjennom et EU-direktiv, som en del av Norges politiske samarbeid med Europa.
Hensikten med EU-kontrollen er å sørge for at alle land som er med i ordningen, forholder seg til et gitt sett av minimumsstandarder når det gjelder trafikksikkerhet. Siden kontrollen er standardisert og praktiseres likt i alle land, skal derfor en spanskregistrert bil tilfredsstille samme krav som en bil registrert i for eksempel Tyskland eller Norge.
I tillegg til å forebygge ulykker, går EU-kontrollen ut på å kontrollere bilenes utslippsnivå. Kontrollen er med andre ord et tiltak for både trafikksikkerhet, klima og miljø.
Alle norskregistrerte personbiler (over fire år) skal på EU-kontroll annethvert år.

EU-kontroll gjøres på bilverksteder som har autorisasjon fra Statens vegvesen. Du kan også kontakte en av NAF sine avdelinger.
EU-kontrollen består av til sammen 150 kontrollpunkter, fordelt på ulike kategorier.

Etter at kontrollen er gjennomført, vil du få en såkalt kontrollseddel med resultatet gradert fra 0 til 4:
Du må regne med at verkstedet bruker fra 45 til 60 minutter på jobben. Har du avtalt å utbedre mindre feil underveis, må du regne med at kontrollen tar lengre tid.
Prisene på EU-kontroll i Bergen er på nivå med resten av landet. Det kan imidlertid være smart å gjøre litt research. De fleste verksteder ligger på rundt tusenlappen. Hos enkelte kan du slippe unna med noe mindre, mens de dyreste ligger noen hundre kroner over. Mer konkret kan prisene variere mellom 850 kroner og 1.500 kroner.
Enkelte verksteder tilbyr ellers ulike rabattordninger hvis du kjøper ekstra-tjenester samtidig med EU-kontrollen. Det kan dreie seg om service, vask, rens av AC eller annet. Ofte kan du avtale med verkstedet at de skal fikse feil de oppdager underveis. Du må da betale ekstra for dette.
Periodisk kjøretøykontroll: EU-kontroll er det samme som periodisk kjøretøykontroll, gjerne forkortet til PKK.
EU-kontroll og service er ikke det samme: EU-kontroll er ikke det samme som å få utført service på bilen. Service (også kalt intervallservice) gjøres ut ifra kjørelengde og/eller hvor gammel bilen er, og det er den enkelte bilfabrikant som utarbeider opplegget. I praksis kan service og EU-kontroll overlappe hverandre noe. Både bremser, dekk og sikt er for eksempel kontrollpunkter på både service og EU-kontrollen. Får du utført service og EU-kontroll samtidig, kan du som regel spare en del kroner.
Etterkontroll: Etterkontroll er kontrollen som utføres for å sjekke at alle feil og mangler som er blitt avdekket, har blitt tilfredsstillende utbedret. Dette kalles også “etterkontroll av EU-kontroll”.
Kontrollseddel: Kontrollseddel er oversikten du får av verkstedet etter at de har utført EU-kontrollen. Kontrollseddelen dokumenterer arbeidet som er gjort, og gir deg oversikt over hvilke feil eller mangler som er funnet - og hvor alvorlige disse er. Seddelen skal være maskinskrevet. Dersom du skulle få en kontrollseddel som er håndskrevet, kan det tyde på at verkstedet ikke er autorisert til å utføre EU-kontrollen. Hvis det er tilfelle bør du melde fra til Statens vegvesen.
Skal du selge bilen din, vil det være en stor fordel om du kan vise til en nylig gjennomført og godkjent EU-kontroll. Potensielle kjøpere får dermed trygghet på at bilen holder en rimelig god standard sikkerhetsmessig og miljømessig.
EU-kontrollen er imidlertid ikke ensbetydende med at alt er i orden med bilen. En bil kan ha mange feil og mangler, og likevel bestå en EU-kontroll. Verken air condition, infotainmentsystemet (en skjerm med kontrollpanel for ulike funksjoner i biler) eller diverse ekstrautstyr som ikke direkte angår trafikksikkerhet, blir sjekket.
Hvis du vurderer å kjøpe en bruktbil så må du altså ikke la deg blende av at bilen er EU-godkjent. Det er et stort pluss, men betyr ikke automatisk at alt er i orden.
Hvis verkstedet ikke finner feil ved bilen din, kan du trygt kjøre videre med forvissning om at det blir to år til neste kontroll. Hvis du derimot har fått påpekt en eller flere feil eller mangler, er det viktig at du tar hånd om dette så raskt som mulig. Det gjelder også ved mindre alvorlige feil (kode 1).
Blir det avdekket mer alvorlige feil som krever etterkontroll, vil du få et tidsfrist for når disse senest skal være utbedret. Du må selv sørge for å overholde fristen og bestille time for etterkontroll. Så snart verkstedet har gjennomført etterkontrollen, vil de melde fra til vegvesenet om at bilen din er godkjent.
Hvis tidsfristen ikke overholdes, vil vegvesenet kreve at bilen din blir avskiltet. Du vil i så fall få et brev i posten om dette. Det vil si at du må levere inn skiltene og at bilen er forbudt å kjøre med. For å få tilbake skiltene, må et verksted dokumentere at feilene er utbedret. Du vil også måtte betale registreringsavgift på nytt.
Byen mellom de syv fjell er kjent for mange ting; bryggen, fisketorget og buekorps. Og ikke minst regn. Og med 200 regnværsdager i løpet av et gjennomsnittlig år, er byen like våt som ryktet tilsier - Bergen er faktisk regnværsby nummer en i Norge. Du skal med andre ord være optimist for å kjøre cabriolet i Bergen.
For bileiere i Bergen betyr det at rust og korrosjon er et vesentlig problem - som forsterkes av salting av veiene om vinteren. Og selv om det ikke finnes bunnsolid statistikk, så erfarer i alle fall mange verksteder at biler som kjører rundt på Vestlandet, ruster mer enn tilsvarende biler på Østlandet.
Bergen har et godt utvalg av autoriserte bilverksteder som kan utføre EU-kontroll, både verkstedkjeder, merkeverksteder og frittstående verksteder. Må jeg bruke et verksted i Bergen hvis jeg er bosatt der?
Selv om du har bostedsadresse i Bergen eller omegn, er det ingenting i veien for å gjøre EU-kontrollen hvor som helst ellers i Norge. Enkelte lurer på om det er mulig å få bilen EU-kontrollert i utlandet, men dette er ikke tillatt.
Er det vanlig å bruke merkeverksteder?
Mange foretrekker å få utført EU-kontrollen der de kjøpte bilen og ellers får utført service, det vil ofte si på et merkeverksted. Selv om merkeverkstedene ofte ikke er de rimeligste alternativene, hender det at enkelte møter konkurransen fra verkstedkjedene med prisgarantier eller rabatt på service og lignende.
Tidsfrist: Det aller viktigste å huske på i forbindelse med EU-kontroll er tidsfristen. Når tidspunktet for EU-kontroll nærmer seg, vil du få beskjed fra Statens vegvesen. Har bilen din vært på en EU-kontroll, er også fristen for neste kontroll påført kontrollseddelen.
Om fristen kolliderer med andre planer så er det greit å vite at EU-kontrollen godt kan tas opptil fire måneder før fristen. Det er uansett smart å ikke vente helt til fristen, men være litt i forkant. Dette gjelder særlig hvis du har en bil som begynner å bli noen år gammel, og som du mistenker kanskje ikke vil bestå sjekken med glans.
Spar utgifter ved å sjekke ting selv: Bruker du tiden i forkant på å utbedre eventuelle feil og mangler, kan det spare deg unødig trøbbel og utgifter. Selv om du ikke skulle være spesielt bilkyndig, er det mange ting du selv enkelt kan sjekke.
